How it works in Albuquerque
  • The Albuquerque Housing Authority (AHA) takes pre-applications online only, when a program is open. Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher pre-applications open once a year and applicants are selected at random: a voucher lottery, not an apartment.
  • AHA's project-based voucher properties take pre-applications until further notice and fill their lists by drawings through the year. The voucher stays with the apartment.
  • Each property has income limits (a share of the area median income) and some are for seniors. AHA charges no fee to apply.
  • We check AHA's pages every hour and link each window's official notice.
