About RentMaxxer
Affordable housing is a right. Finding it shouldn't be a full-time job.
What we do
Cities and nonprofits give out affordable apartments by lottery, by waitlist and first come, first served. The listings are spread across agency portals, owners' sites and monthly PDFs. RentMaxxer reads 50 of those official sources every hour and puts every open listing in one place, in 10 metro areas: New York City, Bay Area, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Portland, Seattle, Austin, Denver, Washington DC.
You answer four questions. We compare your answers with each listing's published income limits, rents and asset limits, and show you the reasons. Every match is an estimate: only the agency or the property decides who qualifies. When a new listing that fits you opens, we email you.
How we work
- You apply on the official site. Every listing links to its official application. Applying is free there, and we never charge for an application.
- Your own account, your consent. We never create accounts on official portals, never apply from an account we control, and never act in your name without your approval of that application.
- We never ask for your Social Security number, documents, immigration status or your password for any official site.
- Public listing data only. We read pages anyone can open without an account, credit the source on every listing, and fix or remove a listing when its owner asks.
- No ad trackers. No ad pixels, no session replay, no third-party analytics. We do not sell your information.
What is free
The four questions, how many listings may fit you, up to three of your matches, and every listing page with its official link, with no account. Pro adds every match, the full requirements table and email alerts.
